Then Is Now: The Art of Altering Vintage Photos

Workshop Description
Spend a day with Silver Moon and learn her grunge techniques as she teaches you how to alter actual old vintage photos to become unique pieces of art. Techniques learned will be masking and reversed masking, placement of backgrounds, and the application of mixed media. Samples will be shown for further inspiration.
Supply list for students
- Ruler, pencil, scissors (regular size and small detail cutting scissors) Golden Soft Gel Matte,
- black gesso,
- well inked black dye ink pad (eg. Ancient Page, Memories, or Adirondack) rubberstamps (best are text, postoids, and design elements),
- 3 colors each of acrylic paints to share ( inexpensive craft paints, eg. Delta Ceramcoat or Apple Barrel, do not bring white or black),
- paintbrushes (eg. Nylon bristle sizes flat #6 and flat #8) markers,
- colored pencils,
- Japanese screw punch (optional),
- sewing machine (optional) with thread (any color)
Supplies provided by Instructor:
- vintage photos
- white gesso,
- tracing paper, sandpaper,
- gaffers tape,
- supply of embellishments, water containers,
- paper towels,
- embossing heat tool.
