The use of photographs in art is not unusual. However the use of photo transfers in collage with painting, can be a walk on the wild side! It's a very exciting medium to use to enhance your collages, assemblages, mixed media and your paintings. There are numerous ways to transfer images and the effect is breathtaking. Image transfers work very well with both collage elements and painting.

You will learn several techniques for image transfer and how best to successfully use those techniques on collage and with paint. Here's what we will cover, gel medium transfers, on fabric, and paper, transparency transfers and ink jet transfers that can be generated from your home computer. Some simple backgrounds will also be covered.

First part of the class we will talk about backgrounds and experiment with the transfers. Later we will compete a project using the processes we learned. This class is for newbies or people that want to learn about transferring images and basic design

Supply list for students

• small gel medium matte and a brush (for gluing)
• scissors
• personal ephemera for the collage background (I will have transfer materials) optional
• you can also just use paint, canvas board, or art board or mat board in that same size bring several if you work fast
• Acrylic paint or inks in the colors you like to use, bring at least three colorshave brushes and water cups for paint
• stamps with Staz On Ink and anything else you would like to use (optional)
• heat gun for drying (optional)
