Marvelous Mosaics using Mixed Media
Michele Parlee
6 Hours
Workshop Description
In this class you will learn to decorate and assemble a mosaic frame using tiles made of polymer clay, beads, and other embellishments. You will decorate each tile as if it were an individual piece of art, combining all tiles together in the end as a mosaic piece. You will learn how to fill in the spaces between your tiles using beads, ephemera, and grout sticks made of gold leaf and polymer clay. In addition to decorating the frame, your piece will have a niche in which you can assemble a shrine to someone or something that you love. You can apply the techniques you learn from this class to make mosaic frames, boxes, and tabletops. You can even use the individual polymer clay tiles to make jewelry; just glue a pin on the back!
Because we don't have access to an oven, I will pre-bake all of the tiles needed for this class. However, you will receive complete written instructions for making all the tiles needed for making mosaics.
