Cool Stuff Light Box
Claudia Roulier
6 Hours
Workshop Description
A multipurpose, functional, interactive piece of art that is a whimsical blend between a night light and an assemblage. Not only will you create a wonderful and exciting piece of art but you will learn some practical electrical skills as well! With the light off, it is an unassuming shrine but when you turn the light on a new cool image emerges from behind the original!
Students will put this shrine together and wire it. I will show you how to do the wiring and layout the design. Some theme ideas for this light box are bats, crows, dogs/wolves, Alice in Wonderland, nursery rhymes or folk stories , etc. Think about how it will be displayed: will you have it sit on a table (don't forget feet )? or will yours hang on the wall? If destined for the wall, students will make findings for hanging on the back, If your design is complicated (windows or roof) lets try and trouble shoot before class if you need it, please e-mail me with ANY questions.
