Workshop Description
This is a Project workshop (all levels), must not be afraid of a torch
Have you ever wondered how the ancients made chains without the use of machinery? Well, that is what we are going to do in this 2 day workshop. We will be using 22 gauge round fine silver wire and a 5/16” wooden dowel. You will need to have a charcoal block and a Blazer Butane Microtorch.
The single loop-in-loop chain is the most ancient of the woven chain types. Its open weave clearly shows the fundamental construction that is the basis of all woven loop-in-loop chains, and is the simplest of them to make. Once you have the foundation down it will be easy to expand and create other chains. I have a chain I made 30 years ago and the unusual behavior of it is that I can tie a know in it and take it out and nothing happens to the chain. It is very flexible and extremely comfortable to wear. It is a chain that both men and women enjoy wearing.
